James C. Boll is founding partner of St. Marie Boll, LLC. His work focuses on general corporate law, insurance and utility law, labor and employment law, and litigation. Jim’s legal career has spanned the public sector and private sector. Most recently Jim served an appointment as Chief Legal Counsel for the State of Wisconsin Office of Commissioner of Insurance, prior to which he was Senior Corporate Counsel for a utility company where he gained 15 years of significant corporate counsel experience. His background also includes private practice in a law firm setting and additional in-house experience for a Fortune 500 company in the insurance industry.
Jim’s clients benefit from his ability to identify potential legal issues, his gift for preventative planning and risk management, and his talent for resolving conflicts which he honed as lead negotiator on several major union contracts. When needed, he has courtroom skills polished through numerous court and jury trials.
Jim is a Past President of the State Bar of Wisconsin and has served on numerous committees for the State Bar for which he has been a two-time recipient of the President’s Award for Outstanding Service. He presently serves on the Prairie Point Retirement Home Board, is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, and is President of the Junction Ridge Neighborhood Association. Jim has also been active on many community boards and committees, including the City of Madison Plan Commission and State Street Oversight Committee. He is a former Board Member of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, the Wisconsin Judicial Council, and State Bar of Wisconsin Board of Governors.
